The ceremony of healing meets the science of breath.

At Anima Journeys, the breath is your bridge to the body's sovereign wisdom. Using functional breathwork and Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) — a continuous, circular breathing technique that bypasses the analytical mind to reduce anxiety, release stored trauma, and increase self-awareness — alongside functional somatic techniques, I guide you back to your innate self, retraining nervous system flexibility, and gently returning to the remembrance of your own innate healing capacity.

The Ceremony

A Spiritual Homecoming.

The breath has long been recognized as a doorway — not just to the body, but to something far deeper. In the continuous, uninterrupted flow of Conscious Connected Breathwork, the analytical mind softens its grip, and we are invited below the surface of our everyday awareness into a more expansive sense of self.

In this space, the body begins to speak in a language older than thought. Stored emotions, long-held in the tissues, find room to move and be witnessed. What some describe as an energetic opening — others call it a spiritual homecoming — a felt sense of connection to something greater than ourselves. Whether that is perceived as the universe, source, God, or whatever name feels most true to you — or simply the deeper truth of who we are — the breath creates a sacred container in which we are held.

In this parasympathetic state of deep rest, we are no longer striving. We are receiving. And it is here — in the stillness beneath the doing — that the true medicine of the breath makes itself known, a gentle remembrance of our own innate capacity to heal ourselves.

The Science

Function meets Feeling.

While the ceremony speaks in feeling, the science speaks in function — and the two are more connected than we might think. Conscious Connected Breathwork creates measurable, documented changes in the body that support its natural capacity to heal. View the documented benefits.

The continuous, circular breathing increases oxygen intake while decreasing carbon dioxide levels, shifting the blood's pH in a process known as respiratory alkalosis. This change in the body's chemistry alters neural activity in the brain and can produce sensations of tingling, emotional release, or deep euphoria — the body's own way of moving what has been held.

Initially, this process activates the sympathetic nervous system, creating a gentle wave of activation that allows stored tension and emotion to surface. The parasympathetic system then takes over — ushering the body into a state of deep rest, regulation, and openness. It is in this state that the body's innate healing intelligence becomes most accessible.

Natalie Watenpaugh

Born and raised in the rugged elegance of Telluride, Colorado, Natalie’s connection to the grounding energy of the mountains is an integral part of her story and work as a breathwork practitioner.

Bringing over a decade of experience as a yoga instructor and working as a doula has honed her greatest skill: the profound ability to hold an unshakable, safe space for individuals seeking healing and nervous system regulation.

Certified in Trauma-Informed Somatic Breathwork Methodology, Natalie holds a supportive, integrity-led container. She facilitates from a place of deep embodiment and lived experience — not performance — ensuring your journey is guided with presence, attunement, choice, and safety.

You can expect Natalie to bring attentive and nurturing care to this work to support people. Natalie has felt deep purpose in this work and believes in the power of our own self-healing and attunement to further heal the conscious collective and Earth.
